    The successful candidate will join our Engineering Team in Burnaby, BC reporting directly to the Vice President of Product and Technology Development. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will take ownership and responsibility of developing and implementing new manufacturing processes. They will lead and support our local team and our manufacturing center in Shanghai with Bipolar Plate manufacturing development from feasibility to SOP and new technology development.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Designs, develops, implements, and troubleshoots new and existing manufacturing processes

    2. Produces and maintains manufacturing engineering documents (PFD, PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions/build sheets, plant layouts and material flow diagrams).

    3. Identifies, validates, and executes projects to improve manufacturing capability, yields, productivity, and capacity

    4. Designs, specifies, and commissions tools, jigs, fixtures, and tests, including design validation and verification

    5. Specifies, procures, commissions, and qualifies new equipment

    6. Participates in product design reviews to provide manufacturing perspective

    7. Applies established engineering principles, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer (designing, calculations, analysis,technical writing)

    8. Makes routine decisions and recommendations within established guidelines, as an individual or as part of a team

    9. Works independently on details of assignments; most decisions made or guided by supervisor


    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering; P. Eng. designation or eligibility

    2. 7+ years directly related experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment

    3. Experience in analyzing data using MS-Excel or Minitab or more advance platforms

    4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    5. Strong organization skills

    6. Customer-focused

    7. Ability to Travel


    ASSETS

    1. Assembly line balance, lean manufacturing, and DFMA.

  • SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER | BURNABY, BC, CANADA

    We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will lead the design of fuel cell stacks and unit cell components and assemblies to be manufactured in our facility in China. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be involved in the full design cycle from concept to detailed design, continuing through design verification to manufacturing engineering for series production.


    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Conduct design of fuel cell stacks, unit cell components, and system interfaces including sealing, mounting, and fluid transfer 

    2. Develop component requirements and specification documents, hold design reviews, release design documentation, and complete other design and release activities

    3. Plan and execute DFMEA and DFMA

    4. Plan and execute design verification plan and complete conformity assessments

    5. Select component suppliers and develop quality assurance plans  

    6. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering teams to transfer designs to production

    7. Troubleshoot and resolve component and assembly failures

    8. Provide continuation engineering support on existing commercial products


    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

    2. Exceptional knowledge of structural design, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer

    3. Experience designing and releasing parts and/or assemblies for high volume manufacturing

    4. Experience working within stage gate or other standardized product development processes

    5. Experience with change management processes and leading engineering changes

    6. Demonstrated ability to create CAD models, detailed GD&T drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials and tolerance analysis

    7. Experience developing and maintaining design documentation throughout a product’s lifecycle

    8. A proven track record of planning scope of work and working to a tight timeline within a project team

    9. Proven ability to rapidly build and test prototypes

    10. Experience working with and managing outside vendors

    11. Proven verbal and written communication skills and comfortable in front of an audience

  • ELECTROCHEMICAL ENGINEER/SCIENTIST | BURNABY, BC, CANADA

    We are looking for an Electrochemical Engineer or Scientist who will assist in the component design of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) to be manufactured in our facility in China. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Electrochemical Engineer/Scientist will be involved in the full design cycle from concept to detailed design, continuing through prototyping and design verification to manufacturing for production.


    TYPICAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES,AND ACTIVITIES:

    1. Support and/or lead the design and qualification of membrane electrode assembly components (e.g., gas diffusion layer [GDL], catalyst, ionomer, membrane).

    2. Perform data analysis to provide input into the selection of component suppliers.

    3. Build prototypes and characterize novel catalysts and ionomers.

    4. Assist in developing new tools, test protocols, and material property evaluation.

    5. Generate engineering documentation for catalyst coated membrane (CCM) and its subcomponents, including design requirements and specifications, DFMEA, Design

    6. Reviews, Test Plans.

    7. Plan and execute design verification plan and complete conformity assessments.

    8. Work closely with designers and process engineers to troubleshoot and resolve component failure modes.

    9. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineering, quality, purchasing, and project management

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 0-5 years of related experience

    2. Good understanding in electrochemistry and materials characterization

    3. A collaborative character and ability to take initiative

  • SHIPPING AND RECEIVING COORDINATOR | BURNABY, BC, CANADA

    We are looking for a Shipping and Receiving Coordinator to join our Operations Team in Burnaby BC. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator will be responsible for all shipping and receiving related activities, as well as provide additional support in areas such as inventory management, facilities maintenance, and engineering prototype builds.


    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

     1. Perform shipping and receiving related duties for all inbound and outbound shipments for local, regional, and international shipments.

     2. Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise for all shipping and receiving related information, processes, and regulations to ensure compliance with all export laws  and regulations, safety requirements, and associated requirements for shipping and receiving high value complex shipments.

     3Communicate with transportation companies for arrangement of shipping and receiving items and resolving any problems involved in the movement of product.

     4Prepare all shipping documentation and conduct the tracking of goods in transit.

     5Communicate with vendors to arrange for pickup and delivery of incoming and outgoing items.

     6. Handle outgoing and incoming shipments, including packaging and unpacking shipments, finding, and managing storage locations, routing internally, and basic incoming inspections.

     7. Achieve and/or Maintain Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification for Land and Air shipments

     8. Handle and manage dangerous goods waste and waste containers

     9. Organize and maintain the shipping and receiving area, as well as the warehouse area, to ensure it is organized, clean and a safe work environment at all times.

     10. Maintain detailed records of shipments.

     11. Work with finance team to ensure shipping and receiving documentation is organized, updated, and logged according to internal processes.

     12. Interact with Customs Brokers for shipments crossing the border, negotiating pricing, and auditing their process and invoices.

     13. Continually review freight costs, negotiate with suppliers, and look for other opportunities within the shipping and receiving process to keep costs down.

     14. Recommend and develop improved processes related to shipping and receiving, inventory management and general operations support.

     15. Ensure compliance with operational and safety policies and procedures at all times.

     16. Maintain inventory system, including stocking materials, recording inventory transactions, reordering materials, and participate in inventory counts.

     17. Establish and maintain Kanban for various items such as maintenance supplies, lab consumables or other materials as required.

     18. Adaptable and able to take on additional responsibilities as required
