FUEL CELL TEST ENGINEER – BURNABY, BC

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Fuel Cell Test Engineer will work with the Product and Technology Development team members to manage and execute testing related activities for all Unilia products throughout the product lifecycle. 

Typical duties, responsibilities and activities include:

  • Develops testing protocols, test plans and data analysis tools

  • Sets up test articles and conducts testing – this is a very hands-on role

  • Conducts data analysis, generates reports and communicates results

  • Performs all aspects of test station operation, including script development, station tuning, troubleshooting, and is able to resolve test station issues

  • Manages test equipment, including conducting or coordinating work related to commissioning, calibration, maintenance, and upgrades

  • Analyzes test failures and investigates root causes

  • Works with external labs and test facilities to manage, coordinate and support external testing activities

  • Communicates with internal and external customers on the status of testing related activities

  • Coordinates with and supports prototype build teams and manufacturing teams for the builds of test articles

  • Supports a continuous improvement culture, skill sets, and tools to enhance operational excellence

 

Requirements

  • A recent engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials or Eng. Physics, or related field

  • Significant Coop work and/or 2+ years experience in a Testing-related environment.

  • Experience with programming languages (Python, VBA, SQL)

  • Ability to analyze data and provide guidance for fuel cell operational and design changes

  • A collaborative character and able to work well in team environments

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral & written) skills

  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Flexible and able to take on additional responsibilities as required

  • Ability to travel

 

Assets

  • Experience in fuel cell testing and/or design

  • Hands-on experience building test jigs, using mechanical tools, and assembling of mechanical systems

  • Communication in Mandarin
